Armwrestling sport is now also a most famouse sport in womens of Pakistan. Six years ago, for instance, there were no women arm-wrestlers registered in Pakistan. Parental support has been one of the key factors driving the growing popularity of the sport among women.
The number of contestants at the Nationals, for instance, has risen by more than 50% over the past six years and 25% over the past year alone, according to data from the Pakistan Arm Wrestling Federation (P.A.F), which is affiliated to Asian (AAF) and World Armwrestling Federation (WAF).
While there were no professional women Armwrestlers in Pakistan until the late 2009s, that number inched up to 80 by 2010, with more than half of them from Lahore, Punjab and Sindh.
Last year saw almost 100 girls compete. This year, Punjab alone has 52 contestants, Balochistan has 28, KPK 27, Sindh 38, and Islamabad 14. Continue..
